The UAE has taken major steps towards expanding its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, paving the way for environmentally friendly transportation in the country.
The UAE has a network of 1,000 electric charging stations strategically distributed across gas stations, shopping malls, tourist attractions, and also some hotels.
It is expected that the number of electric charging stations in the country is expected to reach more than 10,000 by 2030, according to ADNOC Distribution.
ADNOC Distribution and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) recently reached partnership to establish a joint venture, E2GO, to create and operate the basic infrastructure for charging electric vehicles throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.
The agreement, reached during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2030, envisages a greener, and more efficient future for the UAE in the use of alternative energy that helps preserve the environment.
ADNOC Distribution, which provides alternative fuels, currently operates 31 compressed natural gas stations across the country, as energy plays a pivotal role in meeting Abu Dhabi’s water and electricity needs through its extensive infrastructure and initiatives that lead to reduced carbon emissions.
The E2G0 project stands as a testament to the country’s commitment to nurturing infrastructure and technological advancement in the field of transportation.
Through concerted efforts, the UAE is preparing to emerge as a global leader in the transformation to clean electric mobility free of carbon emissions.
