HALA AL KHAYYAT (ABU DHABI)

Elevating the quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors in line with population growth, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has concluded the infrastructure works on the “Bridge of Happiness” in Abu Dhabi, enhancing traffic flow in the area with the opening of five traffic lanes.

The DMT emphasised that the infrastructure projects, additional entrances, and exits implemented on several main streets in Abu Dhabi represent a significant step in the urban planning and sustainable development witnessed by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, aligning with the ongoing process of modernisation, development of infrastructure, and the enhancement of economic growth in the Emirate.

The DMT-executed works include new entrances and exits in the vicinity of the “Bridge of Happiness”, connecting Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street and Sultan Bin Shakhbout Street. Additionally, the construction of an overhead bridge near the intersection of Qasr Al Bahr, connecting Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street and Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street, has been completed to facilitate traffic movement to and from the area adjacent to Qasr Al Bahr.

Bridge development projects, also managed by the DMT, aim to improve the infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, strengthen the Emirate’s transportation system, contribute to enhancing community happiness, wellbeing, and safety, provide an attractive business environment, and improve the quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors, conforming with the population growth and the increasing number of road users.

Abu Dhabi is continuously maintaining momentum to develop and improve its infrastructure, with updates, additions, and improvement projects. This aims at enhancing efficiency, preserving competitiveness in modern infrastructure, and contributing to Abu Dhabi’s status as one of the best cities globally in terms of infrastructure systems, roads, bridges, tunnels, and overall traffic systems, which collectively align with the capital’s comprehensive development plans.

The DMT, through execution of projects, ensures compliance with sustainability conditions, adhering to the highest global standards and specifications. This includes applying best practices to conserve natural resources, protect the environment, monitoring quality during execution, using materials that meet international standards, and fulfilling community aspirations of creating safe roads with global safety standards.
