The Dubai Smart Mobile Laboratory has carried out many instant lab tests on honey samples during the Hatta Honey Festival, which is one the most prominent annual festivals dedicated to supporting beekeepers and the honey production sector in Dubai and across the UAE, with the participation of over 60 Emirati beekeepers.

The Dubai Smart Mobile Laboratory, operated under the Dubai Municipality, is present on the site of the festival to offer tests related to detecting yeasts and fungi generated in honey products, in addition to tests on ready-made food served by food facilities participating in the festival to ensure their quality and safety, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Municipality to build a sustainable environment and food system to maintain the health and wellbeing of the audience.

The Dubai Municipality also offers a number of facilities and supporting services for Emirati beekeepers in Hatta, the most prominent of which include the instant tests for honey samples provided by the Dubai Central Laboratory for both visitors and exhibitors  to ensure the quality of the honey and its compliance with approved standard specifications, in addition to the tests on displayed honey products, including testing the percentage of total sugar, glucose, sucrose, fructose, and hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF).

The Dubai Municipality has recently introduced new updates to the Dubai Smart Mobile Laboratory, which included adding chemical and gemological tests for food and consumer materials and products, for the purpose of developing tests conducted by the lab, and expanding its services to meet the needs and demands of customers in the Emirate of Dubai. This reflects its commitment to developing its resources and harnessing its potential to make customers happy.

Furthermore, adopting high-quality services strengthens oversight and ensures the safety and quality of products traded in the markets of Dubai, affirming its position as a great city for life and advancement.

The laboratory currently includes over 20 devices and technologies, considered to be the latest and best globally; these operate through a range of advanced computer programmes which enable them to conduct laboratory tests with high quality and accuracy, in record time, compared to traditional devices. This makes the lab comprehensive and integrated, operating in line with global standards in force in the Emirate of Dubai.The lab conducts tests on gemstones and precious metals using X-ray and UV radiation, in addition to the various applications of laser technologies.

The Mobile Food Testing Laboratory is considered one of the leading laboratories in the region due to its design and distinct technical features. It’s also the first mobile food laboratory to receive accreditation from the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) in accordance with ISO /IEC 17025: 2017, which is related to the general requirements for the efficiency of testing and calibration laboratories. This has allowed the lab to establish a prominent presence in the field of food inspections.
