The UAE continues its extensive humanitarian mission by transferring several injured children from the Gaza Strip to its healthcare facilities. Aletihad had the opportunity to speak with some of the children during their evacuation flight to Abu Dhabi. Among them is Qamar, a seven-year-old girl who was injured near a bombed building in Gaza while buying candy.

She suffered a broken leg and required the amputation of the other, along with sustaining head and chest injuries. Her mother, Faten, from Al Nuseirat in Gaza, recounted their initial treatment at Al Aqsa Hospital in the sector for a month before the UAE’s intervention for further medical care.

Another child, Mohammed, an eight-year-old boy from Khan Younis in Gaza, shared his harrowing experience. His family’s house was bombed, resulting in the amputation of his leg. After initial treatment in Egypt, Mohammed, accompanied by his remaining family members, was transferred to the UAE.

Tragically, his grandparents, uncle, aunt, their children, and two of his siblings perished in the bombing. Abeer Ata, Mohammed’s aunt who resided in northern Gaza, was informed about the tragic incident and subsequently joined Mohammed and his severely injured mother.

They first received care at Nasser Hospital in the sector before their transfer to Egypt. Abeer now looks forward to the completion of their treatment in the UAE and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the UAE, Egypt, and all who assist the Palestinians.

The UAE’s field hospital continues to provide crucial medical assistance to the injured children from Gaza, offering a range of treatments, including complex surgeries.

Mohammed and Qamar, along with their families, were part of the fifth group of Palestinian children transported to the UAE for medical treatment.
