Sustainability takes centre stage at the Abu Dhabi Police stand in the Expo City’s Innovation and Technology Pavilion during COP28. The stand contains several technological innovations aimed at carrying out police tasks sustainably, such as the smart cap to measure the employees’ concentration patterns, an environmentally friendly motorcycle, and virtual reality training software.

Aletihad met with Captain Hajar Rashed Alnuaimi - Head of the Virtual Reality Section at Saif bin Zayed Academy for Policing and Security - Abu Dhabi Police, who talked about the participation of Abu Dhabi Police in this significant global event.

“Abu Dhabi Police is prominent in achieving sustainability. We design sustainable security initiatives by providing vehicles, buildings and parking lots with solar panels to generate electrical energy,” Captain Alnuaimi told Aletihad.

“We comply with environmental and sustainability standards. We participate in environmental events. We launch environmental initiatives to maintain public safety and spread security,” she added, asserting that Abu Dhabi Police applies new and innovative practices that keep pace with governmental and future trends.

“The smart police bike, which relies on electricity in police operations and is equipped with all necessary systems, is also being showcased.” Additionally, the smart cap, which directly connects to the smartphone for data transmission, can analyse brain signals and concentration patterns. It supports AI algorithms to provide tailored guidance based on scientific mental health references, Captain Alnuaimi explained.

“For example, we have a virtual training centre at the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Policing and Security Sciences, which specialises in implementing training using the latest technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and AI, supporting institutional initiatives and sustainability,” she added.

Captain Alnuaimi noted that the virtual training centre allows them to provide a realistic and immersive training experience for Abu Dhabi Police officers, ensuring they are well prepared for any situation they may encounter.

“Furthermore, we have a partnership with local universities and research institutions to conduct studies and sustainable policing practices and share our findings with the other law enforcement agencies,” Captain Alnuaimi said.
