The Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised a celebration at the beach park on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, attended by Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, the General Manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, and a number of executive managers and municipal affiliates, to celebrate 26 parks that won the International Green Flag Award, including six parks that raised the award flag for the first time, and 20 parks that maintained the Green Flag and had their registration renewed in the list of winning parks.

This new achievement confirms Abu Dhabi City Municipality's adherence to the best global practices in achieving the standards required by the "International Green Flag Award" in its parks and public gardens. The municipality has invested in the most successful methods to direct development operations and enhance the management of service facilities under its supervision.

It has been a pioneer in applying these practices in the Middle East, adding a new achievement to its ongoing accomplishments. In its speech during the celebration, Abu Dhabi City Municipality stated that this achievement is the result of its teams' efforts to elevate recreational facilities, parks, and public gardens.

The municipality highlighted its commitment to continuing to apply the required international standards stipulated by the award's terms and requirements, in alignment with Abu Dhabi's civilisational renaissance and commitment to enhancing the quality of life, happiness, and welfare of community members.

The municipality also thanked all team members responsible for managing the winning parks from the infrastructure sector, municipal assets, and subsidiary municipalities sector, for their cooperation and teamwork.

This includes both municipal employees and strategic partners, all of whom contributed to this integrated system. The celebration also included honouring the members of the international jury committee and the evaluation committee for their sincere efforts during the nomination period. The work teams from Abu Dhabi City Municipality and strategic partners were also honoured.

A video was also shown during the celebration about the application of the International Green Flag Award standards in Abu Dhabi city parks.

During the ceremony, the municipality announced the 6 parks that raised the award flag for the first time, which are: Capital Park, Al Nahyan Park, On the Sea park on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Old Post Park, Adla Park, and Khalifa Square.

Meanwhile, the following 20 parks maintained the Green Flag and had their registration renewed: Al Bateen Beach Park, Corniche Abu Dhabi Beach Parks, Delma Park, Khalifa 1 Park, Khalifa 2 Park, Khalifa 3 Park, Al Rahba Park, Al Bahia Park, Al Shahama Park, Rabdan Park, Lake Park, Heritage Park, Seal Park, Shamkha 4 Park, Shamkha 5 Park, Shamkha 6 Park, Shamkha 7 Park, Island Park, Mohamed bin Zayed1 Park, and Mohamed bin Zayed City Public Park.

The Green Flag Award is considered the most prominent international criterion for managing open and recreational spaces throughout the United Kingdom and around the world.

In order to obtain the award, a number of requirements must be met, including being a welcoming place for visitors, being a safe and healthy park, paying attention to cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, sustainability standards, preserving elements of nature and heritage, community participation, and good marketing and management.
