Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said that hosting the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) in Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s significant and influential media role on the international scene.
The Global Media Congress, to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, constitutes an important event that opens horizons of dialogue with media persons, and extends bridges of communication to draw new partnerships that will enrich the media scene.
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Mazrouei added that GMC represents a leading global platform for shaping the future of the country's media sector and its ability to shape the future of the media sector in cooperation with participants from different countries.
He pointed out that the broad international participation of media entities in the Congress contributes to identifying the reality of the media sector and presenting joint creative projects and initiatives, which contributes to shaping the future of global media and enhancing its role in the process of sustainable development for countries around the world.
Al Mazrouei added that the media sector in the UAE has been able, over the course of more than five decades, to achieve qualitative achievements that have kept pace with the process of development and progress witnessed by the country.
He explained that the UAE is an incubator for major international media entities and platforms, which reflects the advanced infrastructure that supports the sustainability of the growth of this strategic sector from the UAE to the world.
It is worth noting that the Global Media Congress, slated to take place from 14th to 16th November, will have a wide variety of programmes and exhibitions, focusing on the most relevant issues related to the future of the media sector.
The three-day Congress is organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Under the slogan ‘Shaping the Future of the Media Industry’, the Congress will include a three-day conference with over 30 sessions in which globally prominent media leaders and scholars will discuss vital issues relevant to the industry. The main themes that will be deliberated upon this year will include innovation, media education, sports journalism, environmental journalism and the role of the youth.
