Buraak retained the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses title in Morocco for the second consecutive year, winning the 14th leg of the 33rd Prestigious Cup on Saturday at the Casablanca-Anfa sand racecourse, as part of the second UAE–Moroccan Festival.
Buraak (Mehab x Shamous Bint Djouras Two), racing in the colours of Al Leith Racing, trained by Ali Mohamed and ridden by Mohcine Lafram, won the Group 3 contest over 1,900 metres for Purebred Arabian horses aged four and over.
He produced a strong run on the final turn to take the lead and held on down the straight, finishing in 2:12.63, one and three-quarter lengths clear of Moshrif (Dahes x Tashrifat Bint Bengali d’Albret), owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, trained by Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte and ridden by Guillaume Guedj-Gay.
Mugheer (Mehab x Ghabraa Bint Dormane), of Atlas Stud, trained by Rachid Fennane and ridden by Omar Lakjal, was third, with Nahim fourth and Ya Aini Fal fifth.
Buraak had also won the corresponding race at Casablanca-Anfa in 2025.
The leg formed part of the second UAE–Moroccan Festival, organised by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse (SOREC) in partnership with the Higher Organising Committee (HOC) of the series. The festival included eight races for Purebred Arabian and purebred crossbred horses.
The winners were crowned by Al Asri Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Morocco; Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary-General of the Higher Organising Committee; and Omar Skalli, Director General of SOREC.
