Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has announced the opening of registration for participation in the Jananah Dhow Sailing Race (22ft), the Salalah Bwanish Sailing Race, and the Tafrees Race, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 7–8, in Al Dhafra Region and Al Mirfa City.
Additionally, the Traditional Diving Race will also take place as part of the club’s sports calendar for the current season and within the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026.
These races come as part of the club’s commitment to supporting traditional marine sports, preserving the UAE’s maritime heritage, enhancing the participation of skippers and boat owners, and expanding the map of heritage races across various areas of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in accordance with an integrated organisational framework that adheres to the highest standards of safety and organisation.
Director of Heritage Events at the club, Khalifa Al Rumaithi, affirmed that opening registration comes within early preparations for organising these races.
He stated that the club is keen to organise heritage races according to a clear vision that ensures their continuity and development, while providing a safe and competitive environment for participants, noting that scheduling the races on Friday and Saturday offers skippers and owners an ideal opportunity to participate and prepare.
He added that hosting the races in Al Dhafra and Al Mirfa reflects the strong connection between heritage marine sports and the coastal environment in which they originated, contributes to strengthening their community presence, and allows the public to follow races that embody the values of authenticity and maritime skill.
The club called on those wishing to participate to register promptly ahead of the specified deadlines, reaffirming its commitment to organising heritage races that contribute to safeguarding maritime identity and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for hosting traditional marine sports.
