The fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games, organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is taking place from 18 February to 5 March 2026 at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, with broad participation from government entities across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The games aim to promote interaction and collaboration among government employees through a positive sporting environment, while encouraging the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles. The event also supports employee wellbeing programmes and reinforces a culture of physical activity and positive competition within the community, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.

Competitions will be held daily from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 pm and 2:00 am, providing flexible participation opportunities and reflecting the organisers’ commitment to maximising engagement from government entities.

The games feature a diverse programme comprising 11 individual and team sports, including football, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, padel, badminton, table tennis, chess, shooting, CrossFit, cycling and running races, catering to a wide range of sporting interests.

HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said that the Council seeks to encourage a comprehensive transformation in the lifestyles of Abu Dhabi Government employees, guided by leading global studies and best practices. He noted that the Abu Dhabi Government Games represent one of the Council’s key initiatives in achieving this vision, offering a community oriented and socially engaging sporting experience during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al Awani added that the fourth edition of the games serves as an effective platform to motivate government employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle that balances physical, mental and social wellbeing. He highlighted the role of the games in strengthening connections among employees within a positive sporting environment, encouraging them to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives, thereby enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier, more sustainable future.

The Games also feature a strong incentive component, with awards to be presented to winning government entities across individual and team competitions, overall rankings, and highest participation rates among male and female employees within a single entity, reflecting Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s commitment to promoting widespread participation in sport.

Registration for government entities closes on 3 February 2026 through the official games website and main coordinators from each participating entity have been provided with login credentials to complete the registration process.

The Abu Dhabi Government Games are among the emirate’s leading community sports initiatives, combining competitive sport, public health promotion, and enhanced workplace engagement, in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision to improve quality of life for government employees.
