The UAE Judo Federation announced that the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo tournament will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, from October 11-13, at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. The event is organised under the supervision of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

The tournament features a total prize pool of $154,000 and will attract a high-calibre lineup of internationally ranked judokas.

Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, IJF’s Ambassador for Friendship and Peace and President of the UAE Judo Federation, stated that the event will see competitors vying across seven weight categories for both men and women, with a total of 56 medals awarded: 14 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze for third and fourth places in each category.

The draw for the competition will take place on 10th October at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Abu Dhabi, via videoconferencing, and will include representatives from both the IJF and the UAE Judo Federation.

He added that registration for the tournament will remain open through the IJF website until the date of the draw.
