A six-strong UAE contingent of sailors will be fighting it out for top honours at the 30th Al Bareh International Regatta in Bahrain this week from June 26-29 while developing the capabilities of sailors and teams in preparation for upcoming continental and international competitions.

Three national team members each will be participating in the Laser Standard or ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 competitions.

Mohammed Khaled Al Owais, Abdullah Al Marzouqi, and Marwa Al Hammadi will be in the former category while Dhuha Al Beshr, Mohammed Abdul Karim Al Hammadi, and Mohammed Ismail Al Hammadi are participating in the latter class of competitions.

The UAE delegation arrived in Manama, in preparation for competing in the Regatta, which is considered an annual stop for all Gulf teams, in addition to a number of Arab and Asian countries.

The national modern sailing team has been looking forward as usual to participate in this traditional tournament, held annually in the second half of June.

The event has been a source of testing the mettle for the sailors, and has led to emergence of future stars of the seas.

It is a championship where the heroes and heroines of the UAE have embraced many achievements in the past years.
