Monday blues struck the two teams at the opposing ends of the points table at the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on the outskirts of the city.

Delhi Bulls got knocked off their perch when New York Strikers handed them their second loss in five matches, while the home side, Team Abu Dhabi, are over with a fifth consecutive loss in the tournament. Any hopes of a  comeback is now over for the winless side under South Africa coach Mark Boucher.

From the all-winning highs, Bulls crashed to the ignominy of registering the lowest score of the tournament when Akeal Hosein and Chamika Karunaratne played a lead role in dismissing them for a paltry 31 runs in 9.3 overs. The resultant is 67-run win gave Strikers a fillip on the net run rate advantage as well for the new table leaders.

Bulls’ total is well below the previous mark of 46 by Northern Warriors, two-time champions, in 2019 against Qalandars.
Though Delhi restricted New York to 98 for 4 in 10 overs, their chase went kaput. Rahmanullah Gurbaz missed out on a half-century by a run and Odean Smith added an unbeaten 25 for New York. Four Delhi batsmen got out for duck and, except for Ravi Bopara (16), none of the them reached double figures. Hosein returned with figures of 3 for 7 while Karunaratne bagged three wickets for 6 runs.

The other game also was low-scoring, only a little better than the Bulls.

Bangla Tigers pounced on the clueless hosts to bowl them out for 66 before recording a nine-wicket victory. Bangla opener Jordan Cox hit a breezy unbeaten 56 in 23 balls with ten boundaries and two sixes to win the match with 31 balls to spare.

The destroyers of Team Abu Dhabi batting were Daniel Sams (3 for 11) and Shannon Gabriel (2 for 2) and Benny Howell (2 for 9).
