An ⁠earthquake of magnitude ​6 ​struck the ‌Samar region ⁠of ​the Philippines on Monday, the ‌German Research Centre for ‌Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The quake was ​at a depth of 10 km (6.2 ‌miles), the GFZ ​said.

The Philippine seismology agency, ​Phivolcs, ‌said ⁠damage ‌and aftershocks ‌were expected from ⁠the tremor.
