Germany's Federal Police seized 150 dangerous items, including knives and pepper spray, identified around 260 violations of residency rules and launched 170 investigations following targeted searches at railway stations nationwide.

The checks to combat violent crime took place on Friday and Saturday at 43 stations with 2,400 officers, the Federal Police said in a statement issued on Monday.

More than 5,000 people were searched, resulting in 43 investigations into violent crimes, 60 cases for violations of weapons laws and a further 67 offences involving dangerous items.

A total of 338 people were flagged for being on wanted lists, many due to efforts to locate them. Federal police officers executed 13 outstanding arrest warrants, issued more than 285 orders to leave the area and conducted over 250 threat assessments.
