US Vice President Kamala Harris has raised $200 million in the week since she became a presidential candidate in the 2024 race, her campaign said on Sunday.

Harris' team touted the amount as a "record-shattering haul" that was "further proof of the tremendous grassroots support" for her among Democrats.
It said that two-thirds of the contributions made in the past week have from first-time donors.

President Joe Biden immediately endorsed Harris after announcing last Sunday that he was withdrawing from the presidential contest due to concerns that he could not defeat Republican rival Donald Trump.

Harris quickly locked in the support of a majority of the Democratic convention delegates who will ultimately vote on whether to make her the party's official nominee. She has faced no major rivals.

Trump, who has been testing out different lines of attacks against Harris, labelled her over the weekend a "crazy liberal," a "bum" and a "failed vice president."

"A Kamala Harris presidency means four more years of extremism, weakness, failure, chaos, and probably World War III," he said at a rally in Minnesota on Saturday.
