AMEINAH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)

Farm resorts in the outskirts of Abu Dhabi are seeing a surge in reservations as more families opt for quiet, rural getaways this summer.

Spacious properties that offer privacy, outdoor activities, and cosy corners for family bonding are among the most sought-after venues, Aletihad has learnt.

A private resort in Abu Dhabi’s Al Riyadh City — about a 90-minute drive from the emirate’s city centre — has observed a spike since the start of the year, with demand typically peaking on weekends and public holidays.

“As summer begins, we have noticed a significant increase in bookings,” the management of The Paradise Farm told Aletihad. It added that many of their clients are families looking to spend time together, particularly in spaces with open areas where children can play freely and adults can unwind and enjoy an idyllic setting.

“They are usually searching for locations where they can enjoy nature, swim, cook outdoors, and enjoy quality time together away from the daily grind of the city,” it said.

Another venue, 12/12 Farms and Resort in the emirate’s Al Ajban area, is also welcoming more visitors recently, its management said.

"Summer has become one of our busiest periods,” according to the resort, which is located about an hour drive away from the city.

"Today, families seek out places that let them unwind together in a structured and secure setting. During the season, many visitors come to the resort more than once,” it added.

Visitors say the appeal of farm resorts lies mainly in their expansive spaces, which can accommodate large groups in a green, tranquil setting away from the city lights and shopping malls. Swimming pools, mini playgrounds are also a plus, especially for those coming with children.

Jassim Mohammed Al Ali, who recently booked a farm getaway for his kids and relatives, said the experience was ideal for big families.

"We wanted a place where the whole family could gather comfortably. In terms of cleanliness, organisation, and how everything was set up for guests, the experience was outstanding,” Al Ali said.

While the grown-ups enjoyed the tranquility, the youngsters loved the outdoor setting and recreational amenities, he added.

"It gave us the chance to disconnect from everyday stress and focus on spending quality time together,” Al Ali said. "Everyone had a comfortable stay.”
