In celebration of International Museum Day (May 18), the museum will present a dedicated weekend programme from May 16 to 18, featuring creative workshops and live performances that highlight the role of museums in connecting people across cultures and communities.
On the first day of Eid Al Adha, The Joy of Eid at Zayed National Museum will return, offering an enriching programme that highlights Eid traditions from across the United Arab Emirates in an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity.
Visitors can enjoy cultural performances, hands-on activities and family-friendly experiences.
The museum’s From Museum to Community initiative will continue its roadshow across the UAE with sessions in Al Ain Region, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah, creating space for dialogue between the museum, communities and cultural practitioners.
Inclusive experiences are at the heart of the museum’s Access Programmes.
They are designed for a wide range of audiences and include the UAE History Tour, led by a senior Emirati Museum Experience Expert, and a storytelling tour in the By Our Coasts and To Our Roots galleries, focusing on cultural heritage and the values and legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed.
Quiet Morning offers a calm, sensory-considered environment, while Al Dhuha Hour: Traditional Tassels provides a dedicated programme for senior citizens, including those living with dementia and their caregivers, combining guided tours with a hands-on workshop.
The museum’s ongoing tours and workshops continue throughout May, including A Walk Through Our History (available in Emirati Sign Language), A Walk Among Our Wings and a range of family-friendly workshops such as Oasis Weaving, Build Your Museum, Create Your Calming Necklace and Tree of Values.
The museum also offers its Al Bahara on-site learning programme, a hands-on session for students and teachers exploring the UAE’s maritime heritage, including boatbuilding and pearling.
