ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Renowned Syrian composer Iyad Rimawi brings his inimitable musical style to the stage of Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation on Saturday, February 7, presenting rich orchestral arrangements with the warmth of Eastern melodies.
This magical musical experience is produced by Salah Mansour, whose partnership with Rimawi has delivered some of the grandest musical productions in Dubai, Riyadh, Berlin, Utrecht and London – this successful collaboration now comes to Abu Dhabi for the very first time.
Joined by a full orchestra and acclaimed vocalists Carmen Tockmaji and Nermine Wahbeh, Rimawi presents a programme that blends familiar works with new compositions, taking the audience on a journey shaped by memory, emotion, and contemporary expression.
Highlights of Rimawi’s three-decade career include co-founding the influential band Kulna Sawa, which was a staple of the Syrian music scene in the late 1990s and 2000s.
Rimawi is considered one of the most important composers of film and television scores in the Middle East. His groundbreaking projects include “Love Letters from Damascus” and “The Syrian Rhapsody”, one of the largest musical productions presented at Expo 2020.
He was also the creative force behind the soundtracks of iconic Arab TV series, including “Nadam”, “The Godfather”, and the epic production “Moawia,”
In 2012, he became the first Arab artist to sign with Sony Music Middle East.
Most recently, he performed a concert at London’s prestigious Barbican Centre.
