At just 12 years old, Mohammed Khaled Al Hammadi is already inspiring young readers with his debut comic "The Adventures of Speed", a tale fuelled by dreams, courage, and a love for storytelling.

On being asked about the inspiration for the story, he told Aletihad: "I was inspired by 'Dragon Ball', and the story revolves around the main character, Speed, and his dream to be the strongest and become a hero. This idea came to my mind."

Reflecting on any challenges he faced, especially balancing writing with school, Al Hammadi noted: "I did not face any challenges. I wrote it during the summer vacation."

Regarding the illustration of his comic, he described his approach: "I first came up with the powers of the characters, then I created concept drawings. I wanted to add a funny mood like 'Cat Wade' while also focusing on the fighting storyline."

Seeing his book in print for the first time was a memorable experience for Al Hammadi.

"It was amazing – a tangible representation of all the hard work and creativity that went into it.

Selling his comic at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair 2024 added an extra layer of excitement.

"Interacting with readers, discussing ideas, and being part of this literary community made it unforgettable. I was happy to see my parents proud of me, and having my family and friends there to share this achievement was special," he said.

Participating in the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival 2024 also had a big impact on Al Hammadi.

"It was the first time I read the story on a stage in front of children and their families, and it renewed my passion for storytelling. The feedback has been very positive."

Al Hammadi shared a heartfelt message with the readers of his comic: "Always pursue your dream and learn from others."

As for the future, he revealed his thoughts: "Maybe I will write a longer comic story that is even more enjoyable for the readers. Ideas and characters come to me during my free time and after reading other stories."

Advising other kids who want pursue writing, Al Hammadi stressed the importance of preparation: "First, know what your story will be about, then read other books that might be similar and helpful. Plan your book, improve it, and be ready to write."
