Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has organised the return of the second edition of the Arabian Days Festival, to take place from December 14-16, 2024 at Manarat Al Saadiyat, in Abu Dhabi.

Coinciding with UNESCO World Arabic Language Day on December 18, 2024, the three-day event will celebrate the richness and vibrancy of the Arabic language, bringing together artists, creators, and cultural thinkers from around the globe.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, Arabian Days 2024 offers a vibrant platform to explore the historical significance, modern applications, and enduring influence of Arabic on art, literature, and global culture. The festival caters to diverse audiences, including Arabic and non-Arabic speakers of all ages, with a dynamic range of activities and experiences.

His Excellency Dr Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, said: “The Arabian Days Festival programme embodies Abu Dhabi's dedication to strengthening the presence of Arabic as a language of arts, sciences, innovation, and creativity. Arabian Days serves as a global platform for creators to present their works and participate in meaningful dialogues, drawing inspiration from the beauty and vibrancy of Arabic language, ensuring its relevance and vitality in today’s world.”

The 2024 programme features a gallery of winning artworks, showcasing contemporary pieces celebrating the Arabic language. Visitors can also enjoy musical and theatrical performances, explore the Arabian Market with its crafts and local products, and experience the tradition of bonfire storytelling, which brings Arab folklore to life.

Cinema Akil

Film enthusiasts can look forward to Cinema Akil screenings of unconventional Arab films, while cultural conversations diverse topics take centre stage in daily Icon Talks, featuring sessions such as Leveraging AI to Shape the Future of Arabic Culture and Creativity, The Future of Arabic AI: From Sci-Fi to Sci-Real, and AI in Music: Catalyst for Creativity or Threat to Authenticity?

Additionally, the Leaders Forum includes sessions addressing critical topics, such as The Future of the Arabic Language in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, tying in with UNESCO World Arabic Language Day 2024’s theme of Arabic Language and AI – Advancing Innovation While Preserving Cultural Heritage.

For families, the festival offers Children’s Stories and Legends, a series of workshops and storytelling sessions designed to revive the tradition of Arab narratives in an engaging and educational way. Visitors will also have the chance to participate in immersive experiences, allowing them to interact with Arabic culture in innovative ways.

CNN Arabic Bootcamp

New for 2024, the CNN Arabic Bootcamp will provide practical training for emerging talents, particularly in the field of Arab media.

A core theme of this year’s festival explores the birth and evolution of the Arabic language, delving into its roots as one of the oldest and most influential languages in the world. Additionally, the festival will honour the most significant Arab figures in history, with exhibitions and discussions highlighting their contributions to art, culture, and science.
