Dubai hosted the overseas launch ceremony of the 2024 “Charming Beijing” TV series on November 18, under the supervision of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai. The series, created as a joint project by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality and CRI Online, aims to deepen cultural ties between China and other countries, including the UAE.
The event marked a milestone in China-UAE relations, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Abu Dhabi TV, alongside Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya TV, participated in the latest season, which highlights Beijing as a "City of Opportunities."
Mohammed Addulkareem, a host with Abu Dhabi TV, spoke about his recent filming experience in Beijing, calling it "unforgettable." He expressed confidence that the series would bring a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture and its innovative spirit to the people of the UAE.
Filming for the upcoming season took place at key sites in Beijing, including the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center, ZGC E-Town International Robot Industrial Park, and iconic landmarks such as the Temple of Heaven and the Palace Museum. The series aims to present Beijing’s technological innovation and cultural heritage through diverse perspectives, reflecting its dynamic growth.
The “Charming Beijing” series has been a flagship overseas communication project since its launch in 2019. It has brought production teams from 14 countries, including the UAE, Laos, Russia, Italy, Brazil, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, to China for co-productions. The previous four seasons were broadcast in over 10 countries, with a viewership exceeding 300 million. Complementary digital content has also gained traction on international social media platforms, amassing nearly 200 million views.
Following the launch ceremony, the new documentary will be showcased in a touring exhibition on Abu Dhabi TV and Al Arabiya TV, targeting audiences across the Arab region in an effort to enhance the mutual understanding and communication between the peoples of China and the UAE.
