H.E. Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture and Youth, stressed the importance of giving people the power to create their own culture.

“I believe that governments need to empower the creatives, I believe that programmes need to be put into place in order for talent to create culture and not entities to create culture,” he said, during a panel discussion at the World Governments Summit 2024, held in Dubai.

The minister further highlighted pathways through which governments can harness talents.

“Governments need to enhance more programming when it comes to supporting talent, whether through grants, whether through ensuring the continuity of any kind of subsector when it comes to culture by providing the right policies, the right resources, financial or not financial.”

He added that the continuation of public-private partnerships is essential to safeguarding culture, globally.
