Air Arabia is set to commence operations from Dammam on September 20, initially serving three domestic destinations in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said the consortium comprising Air Arabia Group, Nesma Group and KUN Holding Company would begin services from King Fahd International Airport after receiving its Air Operating Certificate (AOC) from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia on Monday.
Air Arabia will operate two flights a day from Dammam to Riyadh and Jeddah, while the service to Madinah will operate daily. Bookings for the flights are now open through Air Arabia’s website, call centre and travel agencies, the statement said.
“The launch of our operations from King Fahd International Airport marks a strategic milestone in Air Arabia Group’s growth journey and reflects our commitment to expanding affordable and reliable air travel options for customers across the Kingdom,” said Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia.
Al Ali said Air Arabia’s business model would seek to increase connectivity across Saudi Arabia, particularly in the Eastern Province, by providing travellers with a wider choice of direct domestic and international destinations from Dammam.
Air Arabia will deploy Airbus A320 single-aisle aircraft on the services. Passengers will have access to SkyTime, the airline’s complimentary in-flight streaming service, its SkyCafe onboard dining menu and the AirRewards loyalty programme.
Eng Mohammed bin Ali Al-Hassany, Chief Executive Officer of Dammam Airports, welcomed the start of Air Arabia’s operations from King Fahd International Airport.
He said Dammam Airports was looking towards a new phase of growth focused on increasing air connectivity and serving travellers from the Eastern Province to destinations around the world.
