ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group and the Committee of the Southern African Development Community Stock Exchanges (CoSSE) have signed an agreement to explore connecting participating southern African exchanges to ADX’s Tabadul cross-border trading network.

Under the memorandum of understanding, CoSSE will coordinate member exchanges interested in holding further discussions about joining the Tabadul Hub, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

CoSSE represents 14 stock exchanges across the Southern African Development Community (SADC), an economic grouping comprising 16 countries. Its member exchanges collectively have more than 776 listed companies with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion.

The partnership will explore opportunities to strengthen cross-border capital market connectivity, expand investor access and improve post-trade services. It will also support the exchange of market practices and broader strategic cooperation between the UAE and the SADC region.

Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX Group, said the collaboration represented another milestone in the exchange’s efforts to build international relationships and strengthen cross-border investment connectivity.

“As investors’ demand for regional diversification continues to grow, this partnership will help connect dynamic capital markets, enhance liquidity, and create new opportunities for investors across the UAE and the SADC region,” Alnuaimi said.

He added that the partnership reinforced ADX’s commitment to supporting Abu Dhabi’s position as a globally connected investment centre and its long-term vision for sustainable growth.

Collen Tapfumaneyi, Chairperson of CoSSE, said the agreement would support the committee’s efforts to deepen regional financial integration and and open new pathways for member exchanges to connect with global capital markets .

The partnership would allow CoSSE members to explore the benefits of Tabadul, broaden investor access and strengthen trade and investment links between southern Africa and the UAE, Tapfumaneyi said.

Operated by ADX, Tabadul allows investors to trade securities listed on participating exchanges through their local brokerage accounts. The platform connects 11 member exchanges with a combined market capitalisation exceeding $1 trillion.

It provides access to more than 700 listed companies and connects over 11 million registered investors. Trading value on the platform reached Dh13.5 billion so far in 2026, surpassing the total recorded during 2025, the statement said.
