The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has issued a commemorative silver coin marking the contributions of the UAE Banks Federation (UBF) to the country’s banking and financial sector since its establishment in 1982.
The coin has a nominal value of Dh100, the CBUAE said in a statement on Tuesday.
The front of the coin features the official UBF logo and the phrase “Since 1982”, along with the inscription “UAE Banks Federation” in Arabic and English.
The reverse displays the nominal value of Dh100, surrounded by the inscription “Central Bank of the UAE” in both languages.
A total of 1,000 coins have been issued, with each weighing 60 grams of silver. The coins have been delivered to the UBF and will not be available for sale through either the CBUAE or the federation.
AbdulAziz Al-Ghurair, Chairman of the UAE Banks Federation, thanked the central bank for the gesture, saying it underlined the close cooperation between the two organisations.
He said the coin also recognised the federation’s role as the representative and unified voice of UAE banks in supporting the foundations of the banking sector and strengthening its contribution to the country’s economic development.
“We remain committed to continuing the growth journey by supporting all efforts to strengthen the UAE’s position as a leading financial and banking hub and advancing its strategic priorities,” Al-Ghurair said.
