NMDC Energy has emerged as the number one Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor in the Middle East after more than 50 years of continuous growth and evolution, according to its Integrated Annual Report 2025 .

The report traces the company’s journey back to 1973, when it was established as the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) by ADNOC and CCC, marking the foundation of what would become a regional energy infrastructure champion.

Over the decades, the company expanded its offshore operations, established pipe coating and fabrication facilities, and set up onshore construction and engineering divisions, steadily building an integrated EPC model. It secured major EPC contracts with international energy companies, inducted heavy-lift vessels such as DLS 4200, and expanded its fleet and fabrication capabilities.

In subsequent years, SENAAT became the majority shareholder before NMDC acquired a majority stake in NPCC, further consolidating the business under the NMDC Group umbrella .

In 2024, NMDC Group listed 23% of NMDC Energy’s shares on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), following a landmark IPO, and the company was officially rebranded from NPCC to NMDC Energy.

The evolution also included the establishment of NT Energies, a joint venture with Technip Energies, to lead energy transition projects, and the inauguration of the Ras Al Khair yard in Saudi Arabia alongside vessel acquisitions and yard expansions.

In his message, Chairman Mohamed Hamad Almehairi said: “In our first full financial year as a listed entity on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), NMDC Energy has not only delivered on the promises made during our landmark IPO but has exceeded them, reinforcing our standing as the Middle East’s undisputed EPC leader, with a growing geographical footprint across many potential markets.

“For over 50 years, we have been the backbone of the region’s energy ecosystem, delivering in a critical sector that powers economies. Today, we stand as the number one EPC contractor in the Middle East—a distinction built on trust, technical mastery, and an unwavering commitment to delivery.”

Today, NMDC Energy operates as a world-class EPC solution provider for offshore and onshore energy sectors, having executed more than 1,350 projects and installed over 1,600 structures, with more than 8,200 km of pipelines and 2,200 km of marine cables completed.

Its operations are underpinned by four fabrication yards across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with a total fabrication area exceeding 2 million square metres and a marine fleet of 19 specialised vessels. The company employs more than 21,000 people, including over 2,000 engineers operating from multiple global centres . In the UAE, its Mussafah yard is described as the largest of its kind in the MENA region, while in 2025 it inaugurated a 400,000 square metre fabrication yard in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia.

Chief Executive Officer Eng. Ahmed Al Dhaheri said: “In 2025, we reinforced our position as the top-ranked EPC provider in the Middle East, deepening our dominance in our core markets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia while successfully expanding into neighbouring markets and taking important steps in our transformation into a truly global partner.”

He added: “As we look to 2026 and beyond, our strategic priorities remain clear. We will continue to grow sustainably, deepen our presence in high-growth markets, and expand our capabilities across both traditional and new energy value chains.”

The report highlights that in 2025 the company secured major project awards, including a significant offshore EPC contract in the UAE valued at $2.6 billion, and expanded internationally with a $1.136 billion EPC contract from Taiwan Power Company for subsea gas pipelines.

With a market capitalisation of Dh13.45 billion following its ADX listing, NMDC Energy’s inclusion in MSCI Emerging Markets Small Cap Index and MSCI UAE Small Cap Index in February 2025 enhanced its visibility among global investors and led to passive inflows during the first quarter of the year.

Describing its journey as “a 50-year legacy of engineering excellence, evolving from a national champion to a global energy powerhouse,” the report positions NMDC Energy as a central pillar of the region’s energy infrastructure with an expanding global footprint.
