ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Gulf Navigation Holding, listed on the Dubai Financial Market, has announced the commencement of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) work for its specialised refinery project aimed at producing Euro 5–compliant gasoline in Fujairah.

In a statement, the company said the FEED work relates to the naphtha development project and is being undertaken through its wholly owned subsidiary, Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investments. The project is designed to produce high-quality gasoline that meets Euro 5 standards.

The company said the kick-off meeting for the FEED phase has officially taken place, with work teams beginning implementation of the engineering scope in cooperation with Italian firm PEG, and with Honeywell UOP participating as the provider of licensed technologies. The engineering work is being carried out within an integrated framework that takes into account approved technical standards and global best practices for specialised refining facilities.

Gulf Navigation said the FEED work is expected to take approximately nine months, subject to progress of the technical work and related engineering requirements. The commencement of this phase marks a subsequent implementation stage in the project’s development roadmap. The first phase of the project targets an estimated design capacity of about 15,000 barrels per day, focusing on improving naphtha processing efficiency and producing gasoline aligned with the requirements of regional and international markets.

Commenting on the development, Engineer Saif Al-Hazaymeh, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Navigation Holding and Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investments, said: “The commencement of detailed engineering design work represents an important stage in the progress of the refinery project and reflects its transition to a more advanced operational level in terms of technical and engineering preparation, within the framework of a well-considered expansion of specialised refining projects based on licensed technologies and global operating standards.”

Brooge Petroleum and Gas Investments said the project is aligned with the UAE’s direction to develop petroleum industries and enhance local added value, while supporting the development of national competencies in refining, operations and maintenance.
