Noticed some expired goods on display at a store in Abu Dhabi? It takes only a few taps to file a complaint. An AI-powered service has made it easier for the emirate’s residents to report issues to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food  Safety Authority (ADAFSA).

ADAFSA has earned the world’s first global AI certification in the agricultural sector, underscoring its commitment to harnessing emerging technologies in support of sustainability, food security, and nationwide digital transformation.

ADAFSA recently promoted a useful, AI-powered tool for the community: The “Take a Photo and Report” smart service, available on the TAMM app, allows the public to report safety issues just by clicking a photo or recording a video.

The process is straightforward: if a resident spots an issue — such as an expired food item or a spoilt fruit — he or she can simply open the TAMM app, tap ‘Support,’ select ‘Take a Photo and Report.’ A camera feature is then activated, allowing the user to take a photo.

Built-in AI will then analyse the image and even auto-detect the location. The user just needs to review the generated text and then tap ‘Submit,’ according to a video that ADAFSA posted on Instagram recently.

Among the common issues that can be reported through this service are unhygienic practices; expired or contaminated food products; agricultural waste; improper animal disposal; stagnant water; and “anything that poses a risk to food or public safety,” ADAFSA said.

Those who contribute to the initiative also get the chance to win prizes, TAMM said during the service’s launch.
