Mubadala has announced its acquisition of a majority stake in the Global Medical Supply Chain (GMSC) and Al Ittihad Drug Store (IDS).
In a statement on social media, the sovereign wealth fund described the strategic move as a significant step towards enhancing the UAE’s life sciences logistics and distribution sectors. “The acquisition supports the development of a vertically integrated ecosystem and strengthens the country’s drug distribution infrastructure,” it said.
Both companies operate in the medical and pharmaceutical logistics sectors. GMSC, based in Abu Dhabi, is a leading healthcare logistics and medical consumables supply company in the Middle East, managing supply chain operations for hospitals and clinics across the region. IDS is one of the region's top pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare product distributors.
Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of UAE Clusters at Mubadala, stated: “The integration of GMSC and IDS into our network is essential to advancing the UAE’s life sciences sector, enabling a fully connected ecosystem from logistics and distribution to specialised manufacturing.”
