DUBAI (WAM)

CEO of Janos, Diane M. Janosek, highlighted that GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai serves as a key international platform, uniting government leaders and over 6,000 tech companies from across the globe.

She urged for a greater collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity to address growing cyber threats.

Speaking to WAM during GITEX Global, Janosek, who has held legal, policy, and executive roles at the National Security Agency, the White House, and Pentagon, stressed the rising importance of cybersecurity in a time when cyberattacks have surged by 200 percent.

“The Middle East has seen a notable increase in cyberattacks during 2023 and 2024,” she added.

The US expert noted that 21 percent of targets in the GCC are estimated to be government targets, which means 79 percent of targets are in critical infrastructure sectors like energy, logistics, and manufacturing.

Drawing from her three decades of experience in national security, she pointed out that her focus on cybersecurity has deepened significantly over the past decade.

Janosek’s participation in "the world's largest tech event" is centred on raising awareness about closing security gaps, combating cyber threats, defending against ransomware, and ensuring secure software development.

She also discussed the future of cybersecurity in 2025 and emphasised the importance of linking US and Middle Eastern business leaders to foster partnerships, exchange ideas, and explore new markets through Dubai.
