Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, engaged in discussions with global leaders in the technology sector at the 54th annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The session, titled "Harnessing Artificial Intelligence Technologies for Global Service," focused on the potential of artificial intelligence and ways to deploy its advanced solutions in serving the development of societies worldwide and shaping a better future for future generations.

During the session, Al Olama, along with Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft; Ian Bremmer, President and Co-founder of Eurasia Group and GZERO Media; Eva Maydell, member of the European Parliament (EPP Group), President of the European Movement International and speaker for the EU Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence, Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Tech Envoy discussed the potential of artificial intelligence and its ability to achieve positive benefits for the world. The session was moderated by Bianna Golodryga, Anchor and Senior Global Affairs Analyst at CNN.

Al Olama emphasised the importance of building the decision-makers and government leaders capabilities in artificial intelligence and technology, highlighting the need to equip them with the necessary digital skills to ensure its implementation across various sectors, raise awareness of its role in improving performance, and promote efficiency and productivity.

Al Olama mentioned that the UAE has developed an exceptional experience in building capabilities and training competencies in future technology through artificial intelligence programmes and skill development initiatives.

He stated that the success of governments in various fields and their global competitiveness are linked to their proactive approach to keeping pace with new technological developments.

"Governments should design solutions to face these challenges rather than ignoring them, building on the positive effects and great opportunities that can be achieved through adopting these solutions. It is important nowadays to change the negative perception of artificial intelligence, fostering a new perspective on the opportunities and challenges of future technology," Al Olama added.

He stated, "Our proactiveness today in the field of artificial intelligence is a crucial factor in laying the foundations for a promising future. Therefore, we must identify solutions capable of addressing technological challenges and enhance international cooperation to design and develop responsible, ethical, and fair artificial intelligence frameworks."

The session discussed the opportunities of artificial intelligence and its ability to positively impact the world. It underscored the importance of studying the rapid development stages of artificial intelligence to ensure the effectiveness of regulations. Additionally, it emphasised the need to balance innovation and responsible uses of these technologies to ensure inclusive access and global benefits.
