Mental health services are now just a few taps away for UAE residents with the new AI-powered app Pura — an initiative that paves the way towards earlier intervention and a more proactive approach to mental health care across the country.

Launched recently by PureHealth in collaboration with the mental health network Sakina, Pura allows users to book appointments, access resources, and get guidance through private, expert-led sessions.

Speaking to Aletihad, Dr. Zain Al Yafei, Chief Executive Officer of Sakina, said: "Pura bridges the gap between individuals and mental health professionals by offering seamless digital access to trusted care pathways."

Easing access to professional support is part of wider efforts to reshape how emotional wellbeing is understood and supported in the country.

"By offering compassionate, evidence-based care, we aim to make mental wellbeing a natural part of overall health in the UAE,” Dr. Al Yafei said.

Sakina has been working to normalise open conversations around mental health by bringing care closer to people’s daily lives, he added.

“Through awareness campaigns, community outreach, and accessible services, Sakina helps individuals see that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.”

Building on this approach, Sakina also partners with educational institutions and corporate organisations to deliver workshops, screenings, and training sessions that encourage early intervention.

"These initiatives aim to build supportive environments where mental health is openly discussed and proactively addressed,” Dr. Al Yafei said.

He hopes to remind the community that mental health is a journey that deserves understanding and compassion.

“We encourage everyone to take the first step—reach out for help, support a loved one, or start a conversation. At Sakina and PureHealth, we believe every act of awareness contributes to a healthier, more connected community,” Dr. Al Yafei said.
